Below you will find the instructions to the poster board requirements of the Country Project.
1. Draw a map of the country on a poster board (Tri-fold).
- You must have these map terms included on your poster board.
- Map Title
- Map Key
- 3 symbols on map
- Example: Mountains, a crop that they grow, population of people, something they are famous for, etc.
- 3 symbols on map
- Compass Rose
- Keep a list of the resources you use.
- 3 Primary, 2 Secondary.
- Primary: Books, News, Magazines
- Secondary: Internet websites
- 3 Primary, 2 Secondary.
- Country must be a country in Africa, Asia, or South America.
- The timeline will need to be on the left flap of your tri-fold poster board when you present them to the class at the end of the school year. If you want to include more than 5 dates on you poster board timeline that is acceptable. Less than 5 results in a grade deduction.
- Requirements:
- 5 important dates
- In order on your timeline.
- The date/dates it happened
- Example: If the event was a war, you will put the dates that the war covered.
- A visual for each event on your timeline
- A picture of the event; a symbol of something related to the event, etc.
- Example: A War—either print out a picture from that war, or place a small toy gun on there as your visual for the war.
- On the handout that you will be graded from, you will write down what your visual is going to be. When you make your presentation at the end of the year with your poster board, I will be checking to see if you included your visual.
- Each event receives some sort of visual.
- List the invention that you have chosen for your country, with the date that it was invented.
- If this invention is something that we in America still use today, or that affects us today, describe what its purpose was then, and how we use it today.
- Example: Greece invented the alarm clock.
- If this invention does not affect us in America, but is still used in that country, describe what its purpose was then, and how they use it today.
- This portion of your project will need to be placed in the top right hand flap of your tri-fold for the final project presentation at the end of the school year.
- Please include a visual, as well of the name of this invention on your tri-fold for the final presentation. This should cover no more than one-third of the right hand flap of the tri-fold.
- A picture of your country’s most popular method of transportation will need to be placed in the middle right hand flap of your tri-fold for the final project presentation at the end of the school year,.
- Please include a visual, as well of the name of this method of transportation on your tri-fold for the final presentation. This should cover no more than one-third of the middle of the right hand flap of the tri-fold.
- What do they eat?
- What are their pastimes?
- What language do they speak?
- What are their religious beliefs?
- Is there a disease that your country is susceptible (vulnerable) to?
- What kind of money system do they use?
- What are some different jobs that people have there?
Requirements
- List a minimum of 5 facts regarding your country’s culture.
- Please include a visual, as well as a title of the topic you have displayed on your tri-fold for the final presentation. This should cover no more than one-third of the bottom of the right hand flap of the tri-fold.
